Brian J. Woolf has been a practicing attorney since 1977. In the past, Brian has worked on multiple government campaigns, including serving as campaign chairman for Clifton A. Leonhardt for State Senate in 1978, National Finance Co-Chairman for U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman's successful U.S. Senate campaign in 1990, and chairman of the election campaign committee for Julia Tasjian for Secretary of the State of Connecticut in 1994. He served as Connecticut’s Commissioner of Banking & Securities from 1980 to 1985, having been appointed by Governor William A. O’Neil.
Attorney Woolf has successfully represented clients in a variety of criminal matters, ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including murder, sex crimes, drug trafficking, and white collar crimes. Mr. Woolf is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Connecticut and Massachusetts, the state courts in Florida, and the federal courts in New York. He is also admitted to the federal 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Many of the cases he handles involve accusations of state and federal crimes, including white collar matters, and he has represented many clients charged with motor vehicle crimes, DUI, and domestic violence. He also assists with state and federal habeas corpus petitions, probation and parole matters, and applications for pardons. For the past 15 years, he has also served as the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Liaison with the Connecticut Department of Correction.
Mr. Woolf received his J.D., with Honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, his Masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and his B.A. from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He is active in the Connecticut Bar Association, and he is a member of its Executive Committee on Criminal Justice.
