Brian Woolf was born in Johennesburg, South Africa, and he graduated from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in 1972. He earned a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974, and he graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1977. During his career, he has earned numerous awards and accolades, including being named one of the Top Attorney in North America and receiving recognition for Outstanding Service to the Criminal Defense Bar by the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Connecticut Bar Association, and other organizations.
